Big Brother turns 6!

Today was a very special day in the Dzialo house...our little boy, Toby, turned 6 years old!!! Layla and Jenna had the great idea to make him a birthday cake.  They thought it was the perfect way to celebrate his big day and to thank him for welcoming them into the family.

The girls were so excited to show Toby his cake.

Of course, Jenna got a big handful of it.

They couldn't wait to see Toby dig in.  What they don't know is that Toby is afraid of everything...so we waited...

...and waited...

...and waited.  Layla said, "Come on, big brother, do something!"

I finally had to cut into it and serve him a piece (much like all of his meals).  Layla was salivating!

Jenna was eyeing her piece.

Go, Birthday Boy, Go!

Birthday parties are so fun...even if we don't get to eat any of the cake.

Happy Birthday Toby, Doby, Booster, Rooster, Booster-Rooster, Bonk, Bonk-Bonk, Doh, Boos-Boos, etc!  Of all the millions of names we have for you, know that we love you a million times more!!!

Mums the Word

We recently discovered that Layla and Jenna LOVE trees.  I know...strange, considering their mom is afraid of them (that's another story)!  Anyway, our neighborhood is lacking in great, big trees so we thought the girls would enjoy a nice walk on OU's campus where there are trees everywhere.  When we got there, we were so excited to see they had put the mums out in the south oval...we just had to stop and take a few pictures.

This is before Layla discovered that the mums were behind her.

"Ooh, what are these???"

Like everything else, the mums went straight in her mouth!  I'm trying my best to clean Layla off, but of course, Jenna is grabbing her fair share.

Layla: "Hang on mom, I think you missed one!"
Jenna: "Oh yeah...got me a nice, big handful!"

Of course, straight in Jenna's mouth too.

As I pry one out of Jenna's hand, you can see she's already eyeing her next handful...

...and she got 'em!

Dad took a different approach and tried to sit in between Jenna and the mums.

In Jenna's mind, this is clearly not as fun as grabbing the mums.

But, Daddy always knows how to make her smile.

So what's a girl to do when she can't put mums in her mouth...find something else.

We actually took these pictures a few days ago, but I waited to post them to see if Layla or Jenna would get sick.  You see, after the girls made a meal out of mums, I discovered their leaves and stalks can be toxic!!!  No worries, everything is fine except for the few mums that are missing their petals.  If anyone asks where they went, remember...MUMS THE WORD!

Pumpkin Pickin'

It's mid-October, fall is in the air, Halloween is just around the corner...what's there better to do than some good ol' fashioned pumpkin pickin'???  Last weekend, we ventured out to the McFarlin Pumpkin Patch to pick a few good ones to bring home.  I'm not sure Layla and Jenna really knew what to think of the whole thing, but it sure was fun to see them trying to absorb all that was going on around them!

"Um, I'm not too sure about this..."

 "It's okay, sissy, just relax."

"How can I relax with all this itchy stuff under me?"

"Yeah, good point.  I'm not sure what that is."

"Hey Layla, what's this thing next to me?"

"Oh, that?  That's just a place to rest your arm."

"Hey, why does this armrest look different?"

HAPPY FALL Y'ALL!

The Great Outdoors

So the hours between 5 and 7 pm seem to be the most challenging for the girls.  We are always trying to come up with things to do with them to keep them happy and entertained until it's time for bed.  With the beautiful fall weather we've been having, we've started to move our play to the great outdoors and the girls are loving it!  We took some pictures the other day, but I've hesitated to post them because, for one reason or another, we have a lot more of Layla than Jenna.  But then I figured, we have a ton of photo ops in our future and surely one of those will feature Jenna more than Layla, so what the heck...I'll post them.  I hope I haven't committed a major faux pas that will cause my children to have some sort of complex when they grow up!

All sprawled out with our favorite toys.

Little Layla is a giant drooler, hence the shirtless pics...she was soaked!

But, it gave her a chance to work on that tan.

She has recently (finally) started rolling from back to tummy and she is so proud of herself.

Jenna loves being tickled by daddy.

Dancing is one of the girls' favorite past time.

Big brother Toby is great at entertaining the girls.  Jenna thinks he's hilarious.

Of course, Toby is loving the great outdoors too!

I hope this awesome weather sticks around for several more weeks.  We just can't seem to get enough of it!
