The Greatest Show on Earth

About a month ago, our little family ventured up to the Cox Convention Center in OKC to attend the Greatest Show on Earth.  Yep, you guessed it, the circus came to town and we weren't about to let it go by without taking Layla and Jenna to see the big show!  We got there a little early because they were allowing ticket holders on the floor to meet the performers and see some the acts up close and personal.  However, when we got there, we decided it may have been a bit too overwhelming and that we had better just watch from our seats...I mean, it doesn't get any better than the front row, right?

Layla and Daddy checking out the tumblers.

Jenna was enjoying her view (and her sippy cup).

Once all the audience members were ushered back to their seats, Jenna spotted the man selling boomerangs.  She really wished she had brought her piggy bank.

Layla had no idea there was a clown act going on right behind her.

But, she was enjoying all of the opening acts and giving them a polite applause.

Jenna was pretty much over the opening acts and ready for the real show to begin!

The show opened with the singing of the Star Spangled Banner.

Layla and Daddy kept their eyes on that flag (or maybe it was the elephant that captivated them so).

Jenna was super impressed with all that was unfolding right in front of her eyes...

...and Layla thought she would try out some of the acrobatic moves herself!

Unfortunately, these are about the extent of my pictures.  I'm really finding it more and more difficult to take pictures while trying to keep our two little circus acts under control!  Regardless, we all had the greatest time at the Greatest Show on Earth!!!

Vineyards Photo Shoot

A couple of weeks ago, okay, maybe it was more like 7 weeks ago (I'm a little behind on my blogging), we took Layla and Jenna out to the Vineyards for a little photo shoot with my friend, Megn.  No special occasion, Megn just had a good deal going on, so we thought we would take advantage of the photo op.  Here are a few of my faves...

I'm not sure what it is about pictures of their backsides, but I just love, love, love them!

Pictures of their frontside aren't so bad either!

So good at sharing!

These pictures with Daddy made the perfect gift for Father's Day.
(Layla is on the left and Jenna is on the right throughout the rest of this post)

Thank you, Megn, for the beautiful pictures and for working your tail off trying to keep up with these two!  It's not an easy task, trust me, I know!

A Trashy Problem

The trashcan in our kitchen actually sits inside a large pullout drawer in the island.  It's a great setup because with one pull, you can access not only the trash, but also the recycle bin that's right behind...super convenient, that is, until Layla and Jenna learned to open the drawer.  I gave it a few days, hoping they would lose interest, but they didn't.  I would often find them running through the house toting around large pieces of trash...gross!  This time, they got into the recycle bin, which isn't as bad, but let's face it, it's still trash!

Needless to say, the pullout drawer is now equipped with a lock.  Imagine how many times a day you throw something away.  Now imagine that every time you do it, you have to jimmy your finger through the crack to unlatch the lock.  Looks like my super convenient trash drawer is not so convenient after all!  Well, I guess it's better than chasing my two tiny trash girls around the house all day and breaking their little hearts when I take their trash away!
