Trey and I are always scouting out events around town that would be fun for Layla and Jenna. One that I had been waiting on to come around was the annual Touch-a-Truck expo at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Layla and Jenna are both really into "big trucks" these days, so I just knew they would love it. Somehow or another, we missed it! I was so upset! You know you've really become a parent when you fall into complete depression when something you know your kids would love doesn't pan out. In my despair, I started googling to see if anything similar would be coming around soon. Lo and behold, I learned that Touch-a-Truck Edmond was scheduled for two weeks down the road! Fast forward two weeks and we were in our car headed north.
Approaching the UCO parking lot, the girls were super excited to see all the "big trucks"!
Layla wanted to see the super tall one first, but both girls were a little nervous. I guess "big trucks" don't look so scary from far away.
It didn't take long for them to warm up...I'm sure the lollipops from the nice lady from Dolese helped ease their minds.
Layla: "Check out this big tire!"
Jenna: "What big tire?"
Layla: "I think I want to be a mail carrier when I grow up!"
Layla: "Hey, where did all the mail go?"
Jenna: "Ooh, I definitely want to ride the the one with the shooting water!"
"Hey, this brown truck comes to our house almost everyday!"
No jumping out of the UPS truck, girls!
Layla: "I bet my Granddaddy has driven one of these before!"
Jenna: "You can definitely handle this one, sissy."
Layla: "Remember...safety first!"
Jenna: "But, fashion is a close second!"
Layla: "I swear, this is the last time you'll see me in one of these!"
Layla: "Ooh, a school bus! Let's go!"
For some reason, this scene made me quite uncomfortable. I can't imagine them being big enough to ride a school bus...
...much less drive one!
"Okay, Daddy...enough with the pictures! Let's go see the best of them all!"
Firetruck!!!
Jenna: "Check out all their toys!"
Layla: "Thank you, Mr. Fireman! I'll share these badges with my sissy!"
"Cool! We're official now!"
"What a great way to end the day! We love firetrucks!"
Thank you, Edmond, for the hospitality...the girls had a fabulous time checking out all of the trucks. Now, anytime we see a big truck, they yell, "I ride, I ride!" Obviously, they can't ride every big truck we see, but don't be surprised if you see my car following a garbage truck through a neighborhood for miles on end. The smiles on their faces when I do so make it worth being late to wherever we were headed.
